ESL Activity: Gap-Filling Dictation

Hi bloggers, today I will share with you an activity that will help you if you like dictation activities.

This activity is a variation of the normal one. You can apply it in every single text you want to dictate or if you are reviewing vocabulary.

-Instructions-
1) As you normally do, ask them to be quiet so everybody can listen; after that, ask them to use a pencil and their notebook.
2) The reading starts and every time you want to review a specific word either you step your foot on the floor, clap, or whistle. Each time you do this action students should leave a blank space.
3) After dictating the whole text, give them 2 minutes to complete the dictation with the missing words.
4) Finally, read aloud the same text but this time saying the missing words as well. Accept all the answers and congratulate the students who wrote the correct words.

I hope you like it and it would be useful for your classes.
