ESL Activity: Non-Stop Writing

Hello there, now I am going to explain a very funny activity you can use in your classes.

This is a great activity for reviewing vocabulary or can be used as a filler one.

-Instructions-

1) The teacher sets the topic, e.g., countries, irregular verbs, animals, etc.
2) The teacher sets the time limit (no more than three minutes).
3) The teacher says 'start!' and the students have such time to write as many words as possible about the given topic. As its name indicates, they should not stop writing until the limit time is reached.
4) When the time finishes, the teacher says 'stop!' and asks for how many words they wrote. The winner has to say aloud all the words.

If you want to make it more challenging, you can apply this activity in teams, so they can share their answers and contribute to their team at the same time.
